Coca-Cola/National Underground Railroad Freedom Center - Marketing Program
Hi, I'm Takeo Spikes, linebacker for the Cincinnati Bengals. This season I had the honor of serving as a local spokesperson for the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. It has been one of my most rewarding associations.

Through the Rush for Freedom Program, I helped take the Freedom Center's message of courage, cooperation and freedom to the guys on the team ... kids in the classroom ... fans in the stadium -- and to tv and radio audiences across Greater Cincinnati.

I think that all of us working together -- the Bengals, the Freedom Center and Coca-Cola - made a pretty big impact.

All people with all abilities are living longer due to advances in health care. As a person with a disability, I know that living longer may include facing new obstacles. The medical profession defines these obstacles as "age-related secondary conditions" - health-related issues that are not part of the disability itself, but triggered by it. Often these secondary conditions are typical aging changes that are experienced earlier in life for persons with disabilities than for persons without disabilities. For you, your family, and others you rely on, "earlier than expected aging changes" can cause stress, anxiety, higher medical bills, and many other unforeseen difficulties. You are not alone. Many others with disabilities are facing some of the same obstacles you are. My name is Robert Harris. I developed my disability when I was eight months old. I have lived a very active life and now I am outliving my body.
